    Youth

In Sunday School we seek to instill in our children and youth a personal and intimate understanding of the Gospel message of love and forgiveness. We believe that a fundamental knowledge of, and heart-felt friendship with Christ are the means by which we grow through Him in our purpose for God's world. We nurture a relationship with Jesus through scripturally-based class lessons; drama, music, art, video and technology resources; and active involvement in service and outreach projects. Using the Bible, God's Word, as our primary reference, we cultivate Christian values and integrity in our children and youth, as well as develop working Bible Literacy skills.

    GOOD NEWS
    by Lorine Shannon

Let's consider the following; there has been a misconception among many adults that Sunday school is only important to/for children. Everything that involves God is important. The Greeks had a word for it: they called it KALEIN, which carries most of all "an invitation is issued". The progression of thought is simple: God calls me . . . I respond . . . He invited me to join Him. To answer God's call Kalein, how do you respond to adult education? There are three adult classes. You are invited to come and meet the facilitators.

    3 CCC'S: CONCERNED, CARING CHRISTIANS

This is the oldest class that has been in operation approximately 70 years. Ella Mae Mitchell, our church historian, is a member and remembers when she and her husband first joined the class as a couple. Many years ago, Mr. Duane Blackwell became the teacher and introduced the Serendipity Bible, for personal and small group study. The NIV text is easy with thousands of penetrating study questions with "Open-Dig-Reflect" questions that help you discover each other's hearts as you get to the heart of God's Word and together learn how to apply it to your lives. Twila Williams is the facilitator.

    SEEKER'S CLASS

This class was established approximately 32 years ago. Based on Matthew 28:20, clearly teaching the class to observe all things as commanded by the Lord. The Greeks had another word for it: Parakalein, which means call to one's side when help is needed. Since this is the largest class, the members are energized to be available to stimulate the congregation for special events. The study has been chapter by chapter and verse by verse. Members bring their own Bibles, which adds a new flavor for discussion. All atending enjoy the fellowship, coffee and snacks. Jim Geary, facilitator.

    DISCIPLESHIP CLASS

The Discipleship class has been active for approximately 10-12 years. The class is open to every adult whether a baby Christian or longstanding Bible Student. The members are directed through videos and workbooks, with class discussion at the end of the session. Recently, a 10-week course on Christ, the One and Only video by Beth More was a great study. The advantage of being led through this medium brings new light to every age. To some, it opens up new discoveries of God's Word. The Greeks call it "Lutroo", meaning (set free), which creates new thought patterns. LeAnne Detar Newbert is the facilitator.
