In Sunday School we seek to instill in our children and youth a personal and intimate understanding of the Gospel message of love and forgiveness. We believe that a fundamental knowledge of, and heart-felt friendship with Christ are the means by which we grow through Him in our purpose for God's world. We nurture a relationship with Jesus through scripturally-based class lessons; drama, music, art, video and technology resources; and active involvement in service and outreach projects. Using the Bible, God's Word, as our primary reference, we cultivate Christian values and integrity in our children and youth, as well as develop working Bible literacy skills. Please click on the above link for a description of our Sunday School classes. Christian Youth Fellowship (CYF), grades 8-12, regularly meets on Sundays from 6:30-8:00 p.m. during the school year. The purpose of this youth group is to: Interactive lessons taught through scripture and a variety of Christian resources allow teens to gain a better understanding of the truth of Jesus Christ's teachings and their application to issues teens face today. In addition to regular meetings, many opportunities for church and community outreach through service projects, are provided. CYF teens attend special Christian and cultural events and enjoy social outings. Our youth are encouraged to evangelism.
Faith Construction Company, our children's choir, invites all children ages three through 5th grade to sing. Practices are held Wednesdays from 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. We will be starting our practices each week with a snack before starting our rehearsals at 4:45 p.m. This season we will be doing the musical "Livin' Inside Out in an Upside Down World!" Our program will be presented during a dinner theater on Saturday, April 26, 2008 sponsored by our Mission Trip group.
First Christian Church sponsors senior high youth on annual mission trips to various locations in the United State and Canada. Faith-based "workcamps" bring together youth nationwide to repair the homes of elderly and low income individuals. Not only do the young people learn new skills, assist others in need and make new friends, but more importantly, they grow spiritually. The week-long workcamp offers them a hands-on experience of serving Christ by serving others. For many of our youth, these mission trips have been life-changing events that keep them coming back each year. Youth must be 14 years old to attend a workcamp or entering high school in the year of the trip.
